The Ahorn Ski/Snowboard Area
The Ahorn ski lift takes off from the south side of the village. With its 160 person lift, it boasts to be the largest in Austria. This season, the T-Bar drag lifts have been replaced with an 8 man chair lift, and the two beginner blue pistes have been merged into one larger run. This is the perfect area to warm up for the rest of your holiday.
However, this quieter area does have a 6.5km pisted red run all the way back to the bottom lift station. This run used to be on the World Cup circuit and local ex World Cup skier, Uli Spiess, holds the unofficial record time of 3 minutes 48 seconds. You may even meet Uli in his mountain hut restaurant, the Ahorn Hutte, and chat about your experience of the Ahorn Abfarht. Being a north facing run, and also having an extensive snow canon system, the run is in operation most of the season for the more experienced skier or snowboarder.
With amazing views across the Ziller Valley, it's the perfect chill out area, especially with the magnificent White Lounge, a bar built from snow and ice, open during the day and also some evenings, with great DJs providing the tunes. And towering above this whole area is the highest peak in the area, the Ahorn Spitz, at 2,976m.
